Hetalia Character Journal: America Headcanons

Simply because of how many head-canons there were of America, I had to make a separate journal to store all of them.

This probably might also happen in the future with other characters.

  He loves to taste test. Whenever he goes around to visit other countries, he's eager to try any new dishes they've cooked or made up.

 His love of comic books is so deep, that he even rips off his favourite characters' catch phrases without even realizing.

 He loves bro-fisting - even with political figures. This is because he insists that they're bros, and so they must do what bros do.

 His favourite genre of game is action adventure along with FPS. However, he's definitely willing to try anything, and is eager to beta test any game. When he plays games like Tekken Tag Tournamen 2, he becomes extremely competitive - sometimes forgetting he can tag with his partner in pair play mode.

 He wears his glasses not only because they're Texas, but also to make himself look cuter and smarter.

 When he goes past a playground, he stops and plays with the kids and playground equipment a lot. He loves the swings a lot.

 When he sleeps, he snores. Like a tractor.

 He keeps his harmonica on him at all times. Sometimes when he just wanders around or just feels like it, he takes it out and starts playing.

 When it comes to older nations like China and Turkey, he loves calling them names like "gramps" and "old man" - Turkey doesn't mind at all, but China responds by bringing up the debt.

 He doesn't have a particularly favourite genre of music, as he's got rap, hip-hop and R&B there, but country and rock there, and a sprinkle of jazz and old tunes there.

 When it comes to singing, he knows he doesn't have the best voice, yet still loves singing, anyway. 

 He's quite ticklish - especially on his stomach. However, he gets embarrassed because he thinks he's gained weight.

 Out of all the nations, he actually has a lot of insecurities with his body image. It started with the time he weighed himself on scales, but since social media is overrunning the world now, though he laughs it off, he gets worried that he's become really fat whenever someone makes a fat joke around him.

He's more fluent and familiar with Latin American Spanish, than European Spanish. -

 He also celebrates different holidays with his next door neighbor or community that is close to his home. For example - he'd joyfully celebrate Hanukkah with his Jewish neighbors. -

 He has high respect for his elderly, but if it's an older nation representative, though he still respects them, he lightly teases them as well. -  

 His favorite season is fall because he loves the beautiful colours of the leaves, and most of all he loves pumpkins. -

 America's actually a *fabulous* singer - like, Frank Sinatra-tier. But he gets horrible anxiety when he sings in front of other people. So he'll sing out of tune on purpose - because if they laugh at him, at least they're not laughing at his real voice.  -

 He's better at playing instruments for an audience. -

 Alfred actually collects the toys that come with junk food. -

 He, Monaco and Macau like to play poker together. -

 Being a "melting pot" he does often fall in love/have a crush on girls from ethnic groups or cultural backgrounds different from his own. -

 He secretly admires Italy and France for their cuisine. -

 He has mild dyslexia - many nations have a 'disability', to some degree. He can read just fine, but he tends to mix up letters when he's writing something. _{England's teased America for some of his typos like when he forgets the "L" in public.} -

 His favorite animals are dogs (esp. pitbulls!!) and birds. -

 America's dream date would be a weekend camping trip at one of his favorite state parks. -

 Some of his favorite singers/bands are Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, and Journey. -

 He's got a potty mouth, but he doesn't really swear when he's legit angry, or when he's around kids. 
Chances are, if he's swearing like a sailor or Romano, he's probably in a good mood. -

 America is simply an American by ethnicity. While he accepts that his people came from every corner of the world, he wants to be simply called as an American to prove he's a nation of his own right. -

 America has a sunburn scar on his neck from the Mount Saint Helens eruption from 1980. -

 Due to his people celebrating different religions individually, America himself doesn't have a religion to follow. There are times where he says he believes in all, but then in other times, he says that he doesn't. -

 He doesn't celebrate holidays the same way. Depending on what religion his people follow, he'll celebrate the way they celebrate (i.e. Samhain on Halloween). -

 When the 25th anniversary of B**k to the F****e came around, he partied like crazy, wearing the clothes, marathon the trilogy, playing the iconic theme super loud(and music that were played in the movies like The Power of Love), drive his DeLorean all over town, and brags that some things were accurate, much to the other nations's annoyance (and was still bummed out that the Cubs didn't win like the movie predicted). -

 It's true that he likes to eat, but if he sees a homeless person on the street, he will give them his food (even the ones that he just bought) so they won't starve. -

 Whenever he gets high, he will either act like Sc***y-D*o, Sh***y, or both (a nod that Scooby and Shaggy are rumored to be stoners for their behavioural traits). -

 He can't stand racist people. -

 The types of people America misses the most are the ones that brought smiles and laughs to everyone (example, Walt Disney, Mel Blanc, Charles M. Schulz, Casey Kasem, and Robin Williams). -

 He takes taking care of the environment seriously. -

 America often thinks outside of the box, and as a result, many inventive and groundbreaking things came from his place (animated movies, the Internet, skyscrapers, Teddy Bears, you name it). -

 He wakes up on weekend mornings (still in his pj's), and eat his sugary breakfast while watching cartoons on Netflix or on his laptop. -

 He’s very intelligent. A sharp and curious mind all around. Not at all a dumb jock (though sometimes he indulges in that persona in front of the other nations and his bosses). Also, the kind that absolutely loves to know how things work, to take them apart and figure out how they tick. Stuff like nuclear and quantum physics is up his alley. Science nerd all around. -

 Space. He loves space. ( ‘Aw man. It sucks that at our current rate of space travel it’d take us easily 70,000 years just to reach Alpha Centauri, the star nearest to our Sun.’) Loves stargazing. Often has Hubble telescope photos for his laptop/handphone/iPad backgrounds. -

 The second being that he kind of likes to imagine he’s a hero. A full blown hero complex. Clark Kent and Superman, kind of thing. But when he’s really pissed, without his glasses, he has an absolutely frightening death glare. -

 Multilingual. He can understand and speak fluent Spanish, thanks to his neighbours. He’s also conversational in a number of other languages because of his immigrants. But he’s been guilty of often pretending he can’t speak anything except English to annoy the others. (’Hahaha! Why don’t you speak American, Vanya?’) -

 America may or may not be a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan. -

 America has a massive comic book collection. -

 America, whenever he can, will just waste his day by listening to let’s plays on YouTube. -

 America has made it one of his life missions to make Belarus laugh. -

  Even though he is afraid of ghosts and a lot of other things, he absolutely loves playing horror games - the scarier the better. -

 Ever since he and Prussia were introduced to the Amnesia series by Sweden, they have been making custom maps for each other. -

 He owns a horse ranch in homage to his cowboy days, and will sometimes suggest to visiting nations he is on good terms with that they go horseback ridding. -

 America LOVES flying in airplanes, and will fight whoever he happens to be with on the plane for the window seat, unless its a child. -

He's really good with kids. -

 When he gets upset, his accent changes: sometimes to Southern, sometimes to Boston or New York - it depends on where he is. -

 He is mildly claustrophobic, considering he has so much land and free space. He doesn't like being trapped or restrained. -

 Every time that he's laughed at his art style for not looking so "Animu", he shuts them down by showing them his cartoons that were anime-influenced (e.g. The Boondocks, Avatar the Last Airbender, a bunch of Batman and TMNT series, Megas XLR, etc). -

 He's annoyed at 95% of the conspiracy theorists that make shit up (like the fake moon-landing, and Hitler being alive). -

 He knows how to rap like a boss. -

 Other nations are baffled at how can America refuses to eat their spicy food like a little child, yet eats New Orleans Gumbo and many Cajun foods from Louisiana (and possibly the exception of Mexico's food) like it's nothing. -

 Just like France, he loves children, and is heartbroken that he can't have his own. -

 There was a time when America had to hide his love for disco to the public eye. He openly expresses it again when a new generation of his people shows their love to it. -

 He's secretly a furry (how else do you explain the amount of anthropomorphic characters like Sly Cooper and Lola Bunny?). -

 He likes to draw a lot. -

 England gave him the name Alfred after one of English kings, Alfred of Wessex. -

 Sometimes he hides in a closet. He did it many times, when he was little. -

 Many books he owns are the books that England gave him when he (America) was a child. -

 One of his favourite stories is the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. England used to tell him this story a lot, when America couldn't sleep. -

 He likes British music bands, like Queen, Whitesnake, Led Zeppelin or Coldplay, but he will never say this loud. -

 He's afraid of storms. -

 He has an obsession with small animals. He tried to make friends with a little elephant once.  -

 His national flower is the rose because this is the one he loved the most out of all the flowers in England's garden. -

 He uses the phrase "French fries" a lot, just to make England angry. -

 He likes to play FNAF, but he can't sleep after playing it. -

 He used to be called Alfred Kirkland. -

 He's afraid of going to the doctor. -

 Although he'd never admit it, he likes watching political comedy shows (like the Daily Show, Last Week Tonight,etc.). -

 Compared to other nations, he's less interactive with humans due to his childhood. -

 He is a brony, very, very secretly. He tried to get England into it. -

 He likes creepypastas, but he refuses to read ones like Episode 23.5 that are based on the other nations. -

 Ever since the original recording of Me and Mrs. Jones released back in 1972 by Billy Paul, Alfred has been teased by the other nations over who his Mrs. (or Mr.) Jones is. -

 The fifty states aren't actually his children nor are they his siblings; they're more like roommates of his. -

 If America ends up marrying a (female) human, that human becomes D.C. or Lady Liberty. -

 America's parent(s) are probably Roanoke, Plymouth Rock, or Jamestown. -

 America is younger than Hawaii. -

 The Confederate States still exists because people still remember it. America has the southern states keep an eye out for him. -

 America is secretly still Puritan and reads the Bible everyday. -

 America doesn't care about the Miss USA pageant that much because he believes every woman is worth more than a crown. -

 America met Madea while staying in Atlanta, and Madea has not been in trouble with the law since America is scared of what Madea might do to him. -

 America eats a lot of apples since apple trees are grown in nearly every state. -

 There are personifications of Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty; America just haven't revealed their existence to the other nations. -

 America formed a secret crime fighting team consisting of Chuck Norris, Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Optimus Prime, and the A-Team; because he is America. -

 America's ringtone is the theme from the Team America movie. -

 Satire is his favorite form of entertainment. -

 He may have Aspergers or a high-functioning form of Autism, due to his people; most of them very young children, are diagnosed (a reference that the United States has the highest Autism rate in the world). -

 The American Revolution was not America's first teste of war, the war he fought was the French-Indian War were he served as a drummer boy with the British army. -

  He's actually quite brave when he watches scary movie, just likes fool everyone to think that he afraid of scary movies. - 

 Other than hamburgers, he other favorite food are Texas style barbecue, Thin crust Pizza, Deep Dish Pizza, Smoked Ribs with Barbecue sauce, and almost anything with Ghost Pepper. - 

 His favorite music varies from Pop to Classic, Rap to Country, Rock to Army. - 

 His first medal was the Medal of Honor during the Civil War, after the Battle of Gettysburg, when he was shot through the tight be a Confederate sharpshooter and saved a fellow soldier. Now America keeps old his old Colonel's uniform, his plumed hat, saber and medal in his storage room. - 

 During the Civil War used to write to England telling him of the news from battlefield and would often write stating how much he misses the good old days with England. - 

 America did not split into two, instead during the Civil War America, suffered mental issues, violent fits and would lash out the Black Union troops, with questions from his superiors if at all his eligible to serve as a Colonel in the Union Army due to his mental state. - 

 At 16 he was the youngest member of the Sons of Liberty and did participate in the Boston Tea Party. In modern time, Alfred still refuses to drink tea and would drink coffee instead. - 

  America has scars on his back from the different wars he's fought in mostly on his back, such a large slash mark from the American Civil War, two bullet wounds from the Korean and Vietnam wars, some fresh cuts and wounds from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, some faded cuts from the Revolutionary War, and a burn mark from the War of 1812. - 

 America's nickname for Prussia is "teach" he calls him because he helped train Alfred during the revolution. - 

 America was there when Martin Luther King Jr. made his “I Have a Dream” speech. When he got to the “My Country Tis of The” America started to cry because his people were so hateful against anyone who wasn’t white and it made him feel like shit. It got worst when MLK Jr. was assassinated.   -

America is one of the five Allied forces, so he is one of the main characters of the series. He is the representation of The United States of America.
He was one of the characters to be given a human name. In this case, it's Alfred F Jones. It's never said what the 'F' stands for, though Himaruya wrote on a blog post that originally it was supposed to stand for "Foster", however it could also stand for "Franklin" or "F*ck" so it still remains a mystery to this
